Day 1
Vancouver → Bella Coola
The journey opens with an Indigenous welcome in Vancouver, then leads into Bella Coola’s wild beauty, ending in a remote lodge in the heart of the rainforest with a local dinner.

Entering Grizzly Territory
With the possibility of encountering a grizzly in the wild, the day unfolds through salmon runs, eagles above, Indigenous wisdom, and a shared seasonal dinner.

Listening to the Rainforest
Along the Atnarko River, the salmon run draws grizzlies into the open, revealing one of the Great Bear Rainforest’s most powerful and unforgettable spectacles.

Learning in Nuxalk Land
In Nuxalk territory, estuaries, fjords, and waterfalls frame a way of life shaped by salmon, ancestral knowledge, and deep respect for the land.

Following the Coastline
From Bella Coola’s stillness to Port Hardy’s Pacific edge, the day is shaped by open water, rugged shores, marine life, and Indigenous flavours.

In the Presence of the Bear
Through Indigenous-guided coastal waterways, the journey reaches remote grizzly territory, where salmon stewardship, bears, and the rare sea wolf reveal the wild soul of the coast.


Day 7
Where Ocean and Life Meet
Across islands and inlets, whales, orcas, seals and sea otters reveal the richness of Kwakwakaʼwakw coastal waters, where wildlife, culture, and conservation initiatives remain deeply intertwined.

Culture & memory
Alert Bay and the U’mista Cultural Centre offers a powerful encounter with the living culture, history, and resilience of the Kwakwaka’wakw people, deepening your understanding of the territory beyond its wilderness.


Day 9
Reflection & return
Closing the circle In Vancouver, an Indigenous-guided reflection on stewardship, reciprocity, and resilience closes the expedition, while its deeper journey continues beyond return, in memory, responsibility, and action.
